Welcome to Prime Strawberry growing Area

Bo  Kaeo, 20 kilometers West of Ampur Samoeng on new highway, is the Heart of Thailand’s Strawberry growing  region. That is because of the excellent COOL weather.

Located 1500 meters in elevation expect year round average 21 degree Celsius days.

Highway 1349 is newly completed past Bo Kaeo and scheduled to run to Pi and Mae Hong Son.

Several recent visitors have called it Heaven compared to the hot humid city weather.

Due to impending health problems we are forced to sell this 42.7 Rai area and the 3 bedroom 3 bath home very soon.

Gotta have a place to SLEEP

SLEEP COMES EASY ON THE MOUNTAIN

Cold months of November and December actually have hit 5 degrees C and we have used the fire place to warm the house after a cool night . We both sleep very well in cool temps. The “hot months” range up to 28 degrees C, but cool off at night and we sleep with fans running when there is no breeze. Normally the “dry” season is from November to April, with first cool temps the warm. The the southwest monsoon season brings rain from April to October.

Sleep comes real easy with rain on the roof. It really is incredibly peaceful.

Four rooms upstairs are bedrooms, but Jane has her very own private room. There is no bed in that one, just Jane’s belongings.

Our master bedroom has its own bath as does the slightly smaller room opposite. The other two rooms have no baths. So 2 bathrooms upstairs and one full bath located off the kitchen.

We have had well over thirty people at one time and the upstairs balcony hold 8 people.

LIVING and FAMILY ROOMS

Our living and family rooms are connected, so it gives a very open look and feel. Besides being open to the upstairs-as you will see from the photos- length of 14 meters gives these rooms a bright and airy ambiance.

big back covered tiled porch

our back porch is “L” shaped and at 9 meters by 4 meters plus 4meters by 4meters with a stove and oven and sink ( that’s our outdoor Thai kitchen for cooking the LOUD smelling food dishes-some spices really will let you know they are being cooked)

ABOUT

Janeny Hathaithip – who goes by Jane-and I live high in the mountains of northern Thailand and will share pictures of our home for sale.

She is a retired decorator and I am a retired helicopter pilot.

We are not young enough to actively work our farm anymore , so sadly for us, we will sell to someone who will love and cherish this homestead as much as we have for many years.

To get here from Chiang Mai International airport, you take the Hang Dong road to Samoeng and then to Baw Kaew-you will see it spelled variously BO KAEW, BO KAO, BAW KAEW- but it is all right on highway 1348( the GPS calls it country road 3052) about 25 kilometers from Samoeng. An alternate route here goes north from Chiang Mai on highway 107 to Mae Rim and you take the left on highway 1096 toward Samoeng.

A GREAT BIG COUNTRY KITCHEN

Kitchen and dinning area measure  9 meters by 5 meters and have more cabinet space than we can fill. Starting with the BIG island in the middle which has 4 built in cabinets we move to the counters which have  6 and the eye level with 3, then there is the tall pull out  cabinet with 5 shelves beside the refrigerator is a free standing 4 door cabinet then under the dry bar there are drawers and 2 more cabinets. we have only 7 silverware drawers

Solid stone counter tops are surrounded by wall tiles all professionally installed at the same time the floors were tiled with ceramic.

The Teak dinning set and side counters easily seat 10 and Jane has made many terrific meals which we ate here. We have a friend who owns a restaurant who loves to cook whenever she visits. Wish she would visit more…heh, heh…and give Jane a break .[slideshow}

LETS LOOK AT SOME PICTURES

Whenever we top the last rise going from Chiang Mai to our mountain home in Baw Kaew, we are greeted with fresh air, cool temperatures and the seclusion of our 42 rai home area.

Even though it’s only 150 meters from the paved road to the house, you cannot see it till the last 30 meters because of all the trees. We want our privacy.

Here  you can sit and look at our 5 ponds, watch the colorful birds and wonder how the Avocado crop will be this year. Besides that, we also have well over 100 fruit trees-lemon,Asian pear, apricot, mango, banana, dagone fruit- and others that I can’t pronounce.

Here are a few pictures of home on the outside

Mist on the Mountain

Come see our home in the mountains.

This quite mountain home is in the country where the air is clean, the temperatures are cool year round and there is plenty of water for the gardens.

The house sits on 42 RAI-about 20 acres- and the house is over 250 square meters with 3 bedrooms,3 baths, a huge kitchen-dinning area, family room living room, office, open balcony upstairs and Jane’s Buddha worship room, which could be a 4th bedroom.

With 5 ponds, two wells, ample water storage with 15 cement tanks, over 100 fruit trees, satellite TV with over 100 channels.

There are two separate living quarters for the workers-one with electricity, water, and TV .

One partly finished party area house, that had the roof removed, and is awaiting renewal.

This house is fully furnished and comes with new refrigerator, new washing machine, new microwave,1 year old 47″ JVC big screen TV with surround sound.

Also included is our 4 wheel drive Mitsubishi pickup truck and all the outdoor tools to maintain the area.

We haven’t yet decide whether we will ship the two 3 meter wide by 1 meter high hand carved Teak wall hangings. It seems like the figurines are part of our family.

We have loved this home for many years-28 for Jane- and have a deep emotional attachment. But, we are older, retired and unable physically to put all the necessary energy into the upkeep. We have an excellent worker-non-drinker,non-smoker,married family man as our top hand. He takes pride in his work and we feel safe to travel for long periods, knowing our home is in good hands.

dad spends way too much time on that sofa

Most folks don’t know it really is the much cooler in the

mountains where we live. It generally runs 10-15 degrees C cooler than Chiang Mai. So when it is 35C in the city, it is 20-25 at home. Just about perfect.

So come visit and check it out for yourself.
